Bringing Smiles to Romania

Who am I?

Hi there! I'm Nicole and I'm a second year Social Policy student at UUJ. I am raising money to cover my travel and accommodation to Romania in July 2018 with The Smiles Foundation accompanied by some members from my church.

What are we going to do?

Romania is one of the poorest countries in the EU with 70% of the country's rural population living below the poverty line in 2015. Our mission is to help the vulnerable in society by providing them with the care, support and facilities that they NEED.

We will be working with the elderly (in the newly established care homes in the area - they are uncommon in Romania), those living with a disability, the homeless, children in orphanages and women who have been victims to domestic violence and are staying in temporary emergency homes made from shipping containers.

Smiles has centres open all year in Romania to support the vulnerable in society, hiring local people to continue their work to ensure that the work is always ongoing. Your money will help to send out additional volunteers, such as myself to help to contribute towards this ongoing work.

Thank you so much for your support! Together we could make a real difference and change lives!
