Many people have expressed an interest in continuing to fund Ulster University's vital contribution to tackling COVID-19 and so we have set up a new page to enable further donations - https://ulster.hubbub.net/p/covid19research/

At this link you will hear more from Professor Bjourson about how these additional funds will be utilized.

Any further donations received will enable us to continue to buy essential equipment to support increased testing, as well as our vital research into screening for COVID-19 and developing new treatments, drugs and interventions related to COVID-19.

More funds equals more tests and increased research capacity.

Thank you for your support of this appeal.

Thank you sincerely for your generous donation towards Ulster University’s urgent appeal for coronavirus testing.

We have been humbled by the response from the community and are very pleased to inform you that thanks to this incredible support from people like you, the testing equipment and supplies are now on order and on their way to the C-TRIC- Altnagelvin Labs. Together we have raised a phenomenal £112,271, with an additional £8,423 in gift aid.

As you know the NHS is facing one of the biggest health crises in history and key to saving lives is the ability to rapidly scale up testing capability. When this equipment is up and running, the testing capacity will increase tenfold, initially testing NHS staff, Social Care Staff and Care Home Staff, followed by patients and the public. With the additional funding received over the initial target, we will be able to increase the testing capacity further.

Ulster University is proud to be working as part of the combined COVID-19 Task Force with the Department of Health, alongside Queen’s University and the Agri-Food and Biosciences Institute. Together we can and will make tangible impact on the urgent testing requirements in Northern Ireland.

Thank you again for your donation, together we will save lives.

Very best wishes,

Eddie Friel
